Saint Anne’s Hospital announces collaboration with Hasbro Children’s Hospital

Hasbro Children’s Hospital specialists now provide outpatient services in Fall River to Saint Anne’s pediatric patients with complex health needs

Fall River, MA – Today, Saint Anne’s Hospital announced a new collaboration with Hasbro Children’s Hospital, a member of the Lifespan health system in Providence, Rhode Island. Children and adolescents from the Fall River/New Bedford area now have access to the highest quality specialty pediatric care from Hasbro Children’s Hospital pediatric specialists in their own community.

Hasbro Children’s Hospital specialists are now seeing patients at the Fernandes Center for Children & Families of Saint Anne's Hospital (222 Milliken Boulevard, Fall River).

“We are proud to bring Hasbro Children’s Hospital specialty services to Saint Anne’s to meet the needs of children living in southeastern Massachusetts and nearby Rhode Island,” said Craig A. Jesiolowski, FACHE, president of Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Noting that, should children with certain complex medical needs require more advanced care, Jesiolowski said, “This clinical affiliation with Hasbro Children’s Hospital [approximately 20 miles away] creates a convenient, high-quality and less stressful alternative” to traveling to Boston [approximately 50 miles away] for specialty pediatric care.

Hasbro Children’s Hospital specialists Pei-Chi Wu, M.D., developmental/behavioral pediatrician, Carolina S. Cerezo, M.D., pediatric gastroenterologist, and James W. Ziegler, M.D., pediatric cardiologist, are now seeing patients at Saint Anne’s Fernandes Center. In this new arrangement, Hasbro Children’s specialists are working side-by-side with Saint Anne’s pediatricians and family practitioners to ensure patients receive coordinated, high-quality care to meet their needs. The Fernandes Center currently offers a spectrum of specialty services that also include behavioral health, endocrinology, genetics, growth and nutrition, neurology, pediatric rehabilitation, and weight management.

“This new collaboration with Saint Anne’s Hospital solidifies our shared goal of providing the best, most comprehensive care to each and every child who needs us,” said Robert Klein, M.D., pediatrician in chief of Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “Twenty years ago, we opened our doors as the area’s premier children’s hospital and today offer 40 primary care and specialty practice areas, as well as the area’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, as designated by the American College of Surgeons.”

Saint Anne’s Hospital is Greater Fall River’s only comprehensive provider of inpatient and outpatient pediatric health services for children from infancy through young adulthood.

Saint Anne’s is a member of the Steward Health Care pediatric network, which includes community-based pediatric physician practices, expert emergency care, inpatient care, routine and emergency surgery, coordinated specialty outpatient medical clinics and nursing services, behavioral health, nutrition (including weight management), youth trauma and other social services, comprehensive rehabilitation (physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy), and child-focused community health and education initiatives.
